'SENTIENT CITY' film wins KROB competition

Could Be Design's new short film SENTIENT CITY was named the winner of the 2024 Ken Roberts Memorial Delineation Competition (KRob) Award for Excellence in Animation, awarded by AIA Dallas. Whether we are paying attention or not, architecture is a lively and locomotive performer in our everyday lives. SENTIENT CITY exaggerates that reality by constructing a linear landscape of architectural “creatures”—buildings and installations that resemble or behave like animate beings. By sampling architectural references of built and unbuilt projects from multiple histories, futures, and geographies, the film builds a commingled, anachronistic world where multiple architectural “species” can flap, shimmer, spray, wiggle, wink, and dance together along a continuous communal pathway.
